Outzu

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is Outzu free?

Yes. Planning, splitting the bill, paying each other back and Get Home Safe are free and always will be. Outzu Pro (£1.99 a month or £14.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial) adds trip mode, your history and stats, and spreadsheet exports.

Does Outzu hold my money?

Never. You pay your friend straight from your own bank or payment app. Outzu shows you their details and a reference to use, and keeps track of who has paid. We never touch the money and never take a cut.

How does Outzu split the bill?

Everyone taps what they had. Shared dishes are split between the people who shared them. Service charge, tip and discounts are shared in proportion to what each person ordered, so nobody pays service on food they didn’t eat. Everything adds up to the exact total, to the penny.

Do my friends need the app?

Yes, but it takes under a minute. Send them your invite link; it opens Outzu (or the app store first), and they join with Apple, Google or their email.

Can my friends see where I am?

Only when you start Get Home Safe, only the plan you choose, and only until you’re home, you tap “I’m home” or 6 hours pass. Nobody ever sees your home address — not even your friends.

Is Get Home Safe an emergency service?

No. Outzu tells your friends and your emergency contacts, but it is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call 999 (or your local emergency number).

What happens to the photo of the receipt?

It is read to list the items so you don’t have to type them, then kept privately for your group and deleted after 180 days.

Do restaurants pay to appear on Outzu?

No. Places come from Google and from what groups add themselves. Restaurants can claim their page to keep menus up to date, but nobody can pay to win a vote.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Profile → Delete account. Your profile, photo and number are removed. Past bills stay for your friends, without your name, so their sums still add up.

Where is Outzu available?

We’re launching in the UK first, with more countries soon. Bills work in any currency.
