Split the bill
Everyone pays for what they had. Exactly.
Splitting evenly feels simple until the person who had a salad pays for someone else’s steak and wine. Outzu makes the fair split as quick as the even one.
How Outzu works it out
- Your items. Everything you tap is yours.
- Shared items. A dish tapped by three people is split three ways. You can set portions too — say you had two of the five dumplings.
- Service, tip and discounts. These are shared in proportion to what each person ordered. Order more, pay a bigger share of the service; skip the wine, pay no service on it.
- The odd amounts. $19.00 between three people doesn’t always divide exactly. Outzu hands out what’s left over fairly, so the shares always add up to the exact total on the receipt — never more or less.
A worked example
Four friends, $172.00 of food, 12.5% service ($21.50), $193.50 in total. Ali paid.
| Who | Food | Service | Share | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sara | $43.00 | $5.38 | $48.38 | Owes Ali $48.38 |
| Ali (paid) | $60.00 | $7.50 | $67.50 | Gets $126.00 back |
| Priya | $34.50 | $4.31 | $38.81 | Owes Ali $38.81 |
| Tom | $34.50 | $4.31 | $38.81 | Owes Ali $38.81 |
The four shares add up to $193.50 exactly. Sara, Priya and Tom each get one payment to make, with Ali’s details and a reference.
Paying back
Outzu never holds your money. You pay your friend directly — bank transfer, IBAN, or the payment app they prefer — and tap “I’ve paid”. They tap “Received”, and when everyone has, the bill is settled. Got cash? There’s a button for that too.
