Split the bill
Everyone pays for what they had. Exactly.
Splitting evenly feels simple until the person who had a salad pays for someone else’s steak and wine. Outzu makes the fair split as quick as the even one.
How Outzu works it out
- Your items. Everything you tap is yours.
- Shared items. A dish tapped by three people is split three ways. You can set portions too — say you had two of the five dumplings.
- Service, tip and discounts. These are shared in proportion to what each person ordered. Order more, pay a bigger share of the service; skip the wine, pay no service on it.
- The odd amounts. CLP 13,500 between three people doesn’t always divide exactly. Outzu hands out what’s left over fairly, so the shares always add up to the exact total on the receipt — never more or less.
A worked example
Four friends, CLP 120,000 of food, 12.5% service (CLP 15,000), CLP 135,000 in total. Ali paid.
| Who | Food | Service | Share | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sara | CLP 30,000 | CLP 3,750 | CLP 33,750 | Owes Ali CLP 33,750 |
| Ali (paid) | CLP 42,000 | CLP 5,250 | CLP 47,250 | Gets CLP 87,750 back |
| Priya | CLP 24,000 | CLP 3,000 | CLP 27,000 | Owes Ali CLP 27,000 |
| Tom | CLP 24,000 | CLP 3,000 | CLP 27,000 | Owes Ali CLP 27,000 |
The four shares add up to CLP 135,000 exactly. Sara, Priya and Tom each get one payment to make, with Ali’s details and a reference.
Paying back
Outzu never holds your money. You pay your friend directly — bank transfer, IBAN, or the payment app they prefer — and tap “I’ve paid”. They tap “Received”, and when everyone has, the bill is settled. Got cash? There’s a button for that too.
