Split the bill
Everyone pays for what they had. Exactly.
Splitting evenly feels simple until the person who had a salad pays for someone else’s steak and wine. Outzu makes the fair split as quick as the even one.
How Outzu works it out
- Your items. Everything you tap is yours.
- Shared items. A dish tapped by three people is split three ways. You can set portions too — say you had two of the five dumplings.
- Service, tip and discounts. These are shared in proportion to what each person ordered. Order more, pay a bigger share of the service; skip the wine, pay no service on it.
- The odd amounts. F CFA 7,850 between three people doesn’t always divide exactly. Outzu hands out what’s left over fairly, so the shares always add up to the exact total on the receipt — never more or less.
A worked example
Four friends, F CFA 70,500 of food, 12.5% service (F CFA 8,813), F CFA 79,313 in total. Ali paid.
| Who | Food | Service | Share | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sara | F CFA 17,500 | F CFA 2,188 | F CFA 19,688 | Owes Ali F CFA 19,688 |
| Ali (paid) | F CFA 25,000 | F CFA 3,125 | F CFA 28,125 | Gets F CFA 51,188 back |
| Priya | F CFA 14,000 | F CFA 1,750 | F CFA 15,750 | Owes Ali F CFA 15,750 |
| Tom | F CFA 14,000 | F CFA 1,750 | F CFA 15,750 | Owes Ali F CFA 15,750 |
The four shares add up to F CFA 79,313 exactly. Sara, Priya and Tom each get one payment to make, with Ali’s details and a reference.
Paying back
Outzu never holds your money. You pay your friend directly — bank transfer, IBAN, or the payment app they prefer — and tap “I’ve paid”. They tap “Received”, and when everyone has, the bill is settled. Got cash? There’s a button for that too.
